Ovarian Breathing
If you resonate with having a female body or experience a menstrual cycle, Ovarian Breathing can help you to harness the power stored in your body’s eggs.
There are similar practices for those who have male reproductive organs, but today we will be focusing primarily on ovarian health.
So, What is Ovarian Breathing?
This Ovarian Breathing exercise allows one to connect with the healing energy stored in the ovaries. By practicing focused breathing, one can become more mindful of the qi flow running through their body, and utilize their stem cells.
The purpose of ovarian breathing is to draw this strong, sexual, and creative energy through all energy centers. Then, it is stored in the navel to preserve and amplify Life Source Energy.
How to Practice Ovarian Breathing Technique
Focus your attention to the energy in your ovaries. Draw this energy down, toward your perineum. Engage your Mula Bandha, which feels similar to holding a kegel. From the Muladhara Chakra, direct this energy up the spine, focusing intently on each chakra. Raise the energy to the crown of your head, feeling the expansion and realization of self.
Now, focus the energy from the crown through the front side of your body. To allow the energy to drip instead of requiring a soft push, it helps to practice holding a correct tongue posture. Keep the back of your tongue pressed gently against the roof of the mouth and allow the qi to flow down the front of your chakra centers like a waterfall.
The qi will flow back down the front of the body, opening the feminine chakras and heart. Be careful with this fire energy around the heart, as it may cause heartburn or discomfort. As you continue to practice, you can consciously store this energy in any chakra you’d like.
However, it is always safe to store your fire energy in your Solar Plexus Chakra. So, continue allowing the qi to fall down into the navel center, storing the energy here. Take a few deep belly breaths, focusing on the navel. Inhale and exhale, feeling the increase of energy creating vitality in your being.
From here, practice these same steps again by focusing on your Sacral energy, drawing it down to your engaged Mula and up your spine. Allow the energy to drip down your front, into the navel center.
Helpful breathwork patterns include taking gentle sips of air until you feel comfortable harnessing this fire energy. As your practice strengthens, you can customize the breathwork and energy practice to whatever serves you the best.
How Does Ovarian Breathing Help?
Ovarian Breathing allows us to channel the qi from our stem cells and original creation energy. This increases vitality, energy, beauty, and strength. As we become more conscious of the energy within, we can consciously manifest the specific energy that we put out.
This practice is helpful for those with both male and female anatomy. However, male reproductive organs direct the creation energy from the sperm, while the female reproductive organs direct the energy from the eggs.
If you resonate with having male parts and would like to begin this practice, I would like to encourage you to do your own research. As I am currently experiencing female organs, I have included that which I practice regularly. I have read that the practice is quite similar, but seeing as I am not practicing this with male anatomy, I will ask you to do a bit more due diligence before beginning this practice.
Fire energy is beautiful, and resonates with Creation, Creativity, Sexuality, Sensuality, Vitality, Spirituality, and Death/Rebirth. Due to the inherent nature of Fire, please be aware that misuse or overuse of this energy can cause discomforts such as heartburn, anger, or oily skin.
Personally, I have noticed an improvement in my skin- particularly on my face. My menstrual cycle has become more regulated and comfortable, and have noticed an increase in energy levels with a decrease in anxiety. Surprisingly, I have noticed my eyesight improving significantly after beginning this practice regularly.
When to Practice Ovarian Breathing
Since Fire energy raises and sets with the Sun, it will prove to be beneficial to practice in the morning or early afternoon. This will increase your energy levels throughout the day, and increase your sense of confidence, as you are expanding your Solar Plexus Chakra. You may feel extra creative or sensual.
In the afternoon, I recommend practicing Ovarian Breathing either in a bath or shower or near a large body of water. You may practice at nighttime, particularly to increase comfortability with menses. However, please be aware that this may wake you up instead of helping you relax. Also, do not practice this laying on your side and always keep your spine upright. This prevents discomfort, indigestion, and burning sensations in any area that may be experiencing blockages.

Ovarian Breathing has proven to be helpful and severely impactful on my personal wellbeing. I would again like to mention that my eyesight has improved significantly since beginning this practice, which I was pleasantly surprised to experience.
Try this practice out, and be mindful of the effects it will have on your day-to-day life. This practice helps me maintain my sunny disposition. If nothing else, that’s a great reason to start.
