Astrological Diet

Astrological Diet

Is there a certain flavor or type of food you feel drawn to, or avoidant toward? Is there a particular planet that rubs you the wrong way? Have you been experiencing blockage in any area of life? How about extra luck? Without knowing it, you’ve been ingesting an Astrological Diet.

What is an Astrological Diet?

One way to balance out your energy is to identify the foods that you feel called to consume. Sometimes, we eat certain things out of habit. Other times, we feel drawn to foods out of necessity. If you have a particular “comfort zone” or aversion, it gives information about how your energy is balanced.

Use your natal chart to identify which foods are beneficial to you in general, or during particular transits

How Does an Astrological Diet Work?

Use this system to identify which areas you feel inclined towards lately. Identify which flavors you could be incorporating into your diet more. Paying attention to your dietary intake and nutrition is one of the most beneficial ways to balance out your energy. This will eliminate dis-ease from the mind, body, and spirit.

How to Implement an Astrological Diet

Take a look at your birth chart and eat the according foods. Also, check the current transits and Dasha. Similarly, adjust your input to the lunar cycle.

Also, observe the way your digestive system reacts to these changes. Use any method to balance out the blockages. Or, allow your body to adjust and reset to the newness of energy.

Example

For example, tune into Saturn for better focus or success at work. It will be beneficial to consume more astringent and crunchy foods and finish your serving.

This helps because Saturn rules Capricorn, which also correlates with the number 10. Saturn rules astringent and unsightly herbs. Capricorn rules the teeth and bones. Therefore, its energy is enhanced by eating astringent and crunchy foods. 10 is the number of determination and completion. So, serve yourself 10 misshapen almonds, or finish your whole serving of another Saturnian food. This will help you to harness the energy of the planet.

Planets and Their Correlating Plant Types:

Sun: Juicy / Pungent: Rules Leo

The Sun traditionally rules our outward expression and sense of self. In Vedic Astrology, the Sun represents the outward persona we learn to grow into. In Hellenistic (Western) Astrology, the Sun represents how we get close to our soul. This represents the part of us that has the most in common with our Highest Self.

So, eat Juicy and Pungent foods to connect with the Sun. This connects us with our own “juicy center” but is also pungent, unapologetic, and firey like the Sun.

Moon: Sappy / Oily / Salty: Rules Cancer

Next, the Moon traditionally rules our femininity, intuition, and emotions, just as it does with the tides. In Eastern forms of Astrology, the Moon rules our intellect, thoughts, and emotions. In Western Astrology, it rules our inner-self, our internal nature that we do not share with the world. All forms of Alchemy and Astrology indicate that the element of Water rules our intuition and emotion.

Therefore, eating sticky, sappy, and oily foods connects us with the energy of the Moon. Salt helps us to retain water. So, eating salty foods can also strengthen our intuition and deepen our connection to and understanding of our genuine emotions.

Venus: Flowering Trees / Sour: Rules Taurus & Libra

Venus rules our morals, values, and external desires. In Eastern Astrology, Venus rules our material world and connects us with our internal compass. In Western Astrology, Venus rules our love language, personal relationships, and the type of material items we value.

Eating parts of blossoming or flowering trees connects us with the energy of Venus. This helps us explore what we wish to blossom into. Eating foods that have not yet reached its full bloom opens up space for the attraction of our manifestations. This implies to our body that we have not yet reached our fullest potential. Similarly, eating sour foods connects us with Venus. It trains our reaction to the things that sting a bit. This balances our awareness of what we do and do not desire.

Mars:  Thorny / Bitter: Rules Aries

Mars traditionally rules passion, quick action, and unconscious action. In Vedic Astrology, Mars indicates our external temperament and the way we deal with conflict. In Hellenistic Astrology, Mars rules the way we handle our anger, impulse, and sexual tendencies.

Eating foods that are bitter help us to connect with the energy of Mars. This tunes us to our inner fire and instant impulse. We can also eat things that have thorns to connect with Mars. This reminds us that not all things that are impulsive, angry, or temperamental will hurt us. A great example would be eating rose petals or nopales. Manually thorning the food yourself is a great practice. This reminds us that Mars energy is just as creative and beautiful as it is painful and temperamental. The result is worth the impulse.

Mercury: Fruitless / Mixed: Rules Gemini & Virgo

Mercury rules our speech and intellect. As a neutral planet, Mercury is highly influenced by its environment. In Eastern Astrology, Mercury rules our thought patterns and physical speech. In Western Astrology, however, Mercury rules our social life and the way we express ourselves and communicate with others.

Eating fruitless plants or a mix of different types of foods helps us to round out our communication. Mercury is a dualistic planet. So, we connect by eating a mix of food that is neither overtly masculine nor feminine in nature. This helps us maintain well-rounded thoughts and communication. Eating fruitless plants helps us to clear the mind and allows us for concise planning and speech.

Saturn: Unsightly / Astringent Foods: Rules Capricorn

Saturn rules our karma, lessons, and masculine effort. In Vedic Astrology, Saturn bestows incredible blessings. It helps us through adversity and clears our. difficult karmic lessons. It is the most restrictive and the most generous of the planets, relying entirely on the energy of the querent. In Hellenistic Astrology, Saturn indicates tradition, lessons, rough patches, and injury. Saturn is known as the “strict teacher” of the planets.

To connect with paternal Saturn requires eating foods that are unsightly or astringent in nature. Just as karmic lessons are often difficult to walk through, we must not pass judgement on them. Instead, enjoy the nutritional value, similar to eating an unsightly plant. Astringent plants clear us toxins and help our wounds and digestive tract heal. Like karma, they do not always taste the best but are always effective. Similar to cleaning a wound with alcohol, Saturn does the same for our soul’s blueprint.

Jupiter: Fruit Bearing / Sweet: Rules Sagittarius

To follow, Jupiter traditionally rules expansion, easy blessings, and personal freedom. In Eastern Astrology, Jupiter is highly fertile and expands anything it comes into contact with. In Western Astrology, it is known to bring blessings and a sense of internal contentment. When following an Astrological diet, use caution mixing Jupiter’s energy with other planets. Since Jupiter expands everything, it may mix well with Venusian but not Martian or Saturnian energy.

Eating fruit-bearing plants connect us with our fertility, in every meaning of the term. So, plants that have successfully combined masculine and feminine energy help us to do the same. Similarly, eating sweet plants help us connect with Jupiter. They trigger our pleasure centers, reminding us to live in abundance. Just like Jupiter, when we eat natural sugar, we get a quick burst of energy. This does not last long but creates happiness in the neurological, lymphatic, and digestive systems.

Neptune / Uranus: Rules Pisces / Aquarius

Finally, Neptune correlates with the input of water and liquids. Similarly, Uranus is associated with the input of breathwork, meditation, and self-realization/higher learning.
