Balancing Yin and Yang
According to traditional Chinese medicine, everything can be characterized as either Yin or Yang- even the human body! When we become aware of the electromagnetic energy running through our beings, we find a way to connect with our higher selves. Therefore, learning to harness and balance this energy will bring balance and tranquility to your day to day life. It has been proven that the mind, body and spirit work together to the being as a whole. We can start this process through focused action and clear intention. If you’ve found this blog, you’re already exactly where you need to be.
So, What Are Yin and Yang?
Yin, or zang, organs include the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys. Yang, or fu, organs include the small and large intestines, gallbladder, urinary tract, stomach, and san jiao. The human brain also has a yin and yang side. The left hemisphere takes care of language, logic, reasoning and numbers- all considered yang qualities, while the right half deals with emotion, empathy, creative thinking and images- yin qualities. When it comes to our shadow self, each organ is associated with an element, season, emotion, virtue, color, taste, sensory organ, and qi climate.
Loving Awareness
Take what resonates with how you feel today. Take a minute to close your eyes, take a breath and witness your mind, body and spirit. Say hello, notice any comfort or discomfort freely and without judgement. Smile with your lips. Now smile with your liver and your forehead.
When balancing yin and yang, refer to the chart below and acknowledge which areas you may be experiencing lack or excess. By meditating, changing your diet or wearing a specific color, you can become mindful and work towards mastering your energy. Qigong is another wonderful practice, as it teaches you how to physically feel and bend your qi. Many beautiful practices can be found with a quick Youtube search. Find out if you need to work on balancing yin and yang energies by looking at your astrology chart and the transits. You’ll be able to see how your current relationship with the elements and can use this as a starting point when referencing the chart.
